Merlin is a nine year old thoroughbred who has been through a lot. Bred to be a racer, he was sent to a kill pen when he showed no interest or potential on the track. Luckily, he was rescued by a girl and her mother who eventually sold him to a young woman who worked with him until she went off to college and I bought him.

          When he walked off the trailer, he was nothing but skin and bones and nobody was sure he was going to survive his first night in his new home. Fortunately he pulled through and everyone at the barn pitched in to help him regain his strength and weight. I was ecstatic when he was finally healthy enough to ride but with my busy schedule and the various injuries he received from the other horses, he sat in the pasture and continued to gain weight. Now that he is back to full health, I will be working with him over the next few months to help him gain the muscle he needs to reach his full potential.
